Meet Martin Luther

For more than five decades, Martin Luther has been involved in the craft of making beef jerky.
Martin began his career in the meat processing industry and quickly developed a passion for creating quality jerky. Over the years, he refined recipes, experimented with techniques, and learned that great jerky comes from patience, consistency, and attention to detail.
In 1974, Martin and his wife, Shirlee, founded a meat processing business in LeRoy, Kansas. Together they spent decades serving customers, building relationships, and developing the skills and experience that would shape Martin's approach to jerky making.
After retiring in 2012, Martin stepped away from the industry and focused on family, friends, and enjoying life with Shirlee. Following Shirlee's passing, Martin decided he wasn't ready to stop doing what he loved most. He returned to the smokehouse with a simple goal: continue making quality jerky and share it with a new generation of customers.
That decision led to the creation of LeRoy Jerky LLC.
Today, LeRoy Jerky is a family-owned company built around Martin's experience, recipes, and commitment to craftsmanship. Martin remains actively involved in recipe development, production, and quality control, helping ensure every batch meets the standards he has spent a lifetime developing.
At LeRoy Jerky, we believe great jerky can't be rushed. Every batch is prepared in small quantities using carefully selected cuts of beef, traditional techniques, and the kind of attention to detail that only comes from years of experience.
For Martin, jerky has always been about more than meat and seasoning. It's about sharing something made with pride, creating connections with people, and passing along knowledge gained through a lifetime of hard work.
